Overview
The Toshiba 43UF3D53DB is the 43” unit in the UF3D Toshiba range of SMART TV’s. At the time of writing (January 2023), the TV is available at around £250 at Amazon and up to £350 at Argos in the UK. The TV performs well enough for its price point and has Toshiba’s Tru picture engine which works to improve contrast and image smoothing, particularly when upscaling. As with the rest of the units in this range, the TV comes with HDR-10, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. Where the TV is let down somewhat is the Toshiba OS, which lacks some of the services that other brands provide. It doesn’t come with an app for Disney+, for example. The sound quality isn’t great, but you shouldn’t expect it to be, especially for a cheaper TV. As with pretty much any TV unit, we’d recommend an external sound bar anyway.
Our research indicated there may be a fairly high failure / return rate for this TV. The unit also takes a long time to power on, and some users have complained of slowness while using the OS.
